FRANKINCENSE: KING OF THE OILS

  1. Isaiah prophesied the coming of the Wise Men; “6 Vast caravans of camels will converge on you, the camels of Midian and Ephah. The people of Sheba will bring gold and frankincense and will come worshiping the LORD.” (Isaiah 60:6).
  2. The gifts to baby Jesus in Matthew 2:11; “11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.”
  3. It is the required incense on a grain offering: “15 The priest on duty will take from the grain offering a handful of the choice flour moistened with olive oil, together with all the frankincense. He will burn this representative portion on the altar as a pleasing aroma to the LORD.”

No wonder Frankincense is called King of the Oils! Not only is the oil considered to be a pleasing aroma to the Lord and a gift to the baby Jesus, but it was used to anoint the newborn sons of kings! Its renowned nickname seems ironic now, doesn’t it? However, Frankincense is more than an oil used for grain offerings and anointing. Let’s take a look.

FRANKINCENSE USES AND BENEFITS

IT’S AN ASTRINGENT – Frankincense is an astringent property that can strengthen and maintain the health of gums, hair roots, skin tone, muscles, intestines, and blood vessels. This property alone can protect from premature loss of teeth and hair. It can also reduce the appearance of wrinkles and combat the loss of firmness in limbs associated with age. Apply to desired areas or take four drops via veggie capsule to optimize the benefits of this oil.

PROMOTES APOPTOSIS – According to a study conducted in 2016, Frankincense can promote healthy cell death—also known as apoptosis. This may reduce the risks of malignant growths or other unexpected mutations. Apply to affected areas and take four drops via veggie capsule to utilize Frankincense’s pro-apoptotic effects against cells.

KEEPS UTERUS HEALTHY – Another study conducted by Jane Buckle, ex-faculty at the University of Minnesota and author of Clinical Aromatherapy in Nursing, concluded that Frankincense is good for uterine health. Frankincense can regulate the production of the estrogen hormone, proper menstrual cycles, and other gynecologic conditions. Apply to affected areas and take four drops via veggie capsule to keep your reproductive and endocrine system healthy

DoTERRA’s Gift of Kings promotion is back! Place a 200 PV Loyalty order this December and receive a 15 mL of Frankincense for FREE! Don’t miss it! We’d love to hear your testimonies.

Yellow Mandarin Essential Oil

Welcome the newest addition of the Mandarin family: Yellow Mandarin! Yellow Mandarin is cold pressed from the rind of a partially ripened Mandarin. It’s sisters, on the other hand, are derived from the ripe (red) and unripe (green) fruit. The aroma of Yellow Mandarin can be described as bright, zesty, and refreshing with a taste similar to lemon but with tangy-sweet top notes. Mandarins were introduced to Europe in the 1800s and brought from Italy to the United States in the 1840s.

WHAT CAN YELLOW MANDARIN DO?

First and foremost, Yellow Mandarin is an excellent candidate for helping prevent infections. It can protect wounds from contamination only because of its powerful antibacterial properties. Furthermore, Yellow Mandarin forms a protective covering on the wound and can promote the collection of blood platelets and leucocytes on the perturbed site, therefore blocking the intrusion of certain microbes. In a 2018 study recorded in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, the results concluded the oil itself has such potent bacterial and fungal properties that it proves to be an effective protection against infection.

To use Yellow Mandarin for wound protection and infection, apply two-to-three drops to site with a small amount of dilution or blend with other proactive essential oils like OnGuard, Oregano, or Melaleuca in a rollerball topped-off with a carrier oil.

Like it’s sibling, Lemon, Yellow Mandarin (and most citrus oils) can detoxify the body to a certain extent. These oils can purify the blood by helping to remove toxic substances from the body by means of excretion. That includes urine, fecal matter, and sweat. Also similar to its citrus brethren, Yellow Mandarin can improve digestion by stimulating the discharge of digestive juices and bile in the stomach. It also may increase the appetite.

Yellow Mandarin for digestive health is most useful when taken internally with a veggie capsule or in water. Keep in mind: if want to add citrus oil to water, be sure to use glass or stainless steel. You may also add two-to-three drops to the belly.

Lastly, I shouldn’t neglect to mention Yellow Mandarin’s relaxant properties. Its sedating effect works to relax and calm nervous afflictions and disturbances. In fact, the oil was used in both Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine for calming the mind, relaxing the body, and inducing sleepiness. A study conducted on the effectiveness of Mandarin essential oil on rodents concluded a significant decrease in expressions of anxiety.

You may apply yellow Mandarin for emotional instances topically or aromatically. Use one-to-two drops of the oil on the back of your neck and over your heart. You can also diffuse three-to-four drops in a diffuser of your choice.

CAUTIONS

Like all citrus oils, Yellow Mandarin is photo-toxic. Avoid sunlight or UV rays for up to 12 hours after applying the product.

This is your last chance to get Yellow Mandarin! Place a 200 PV order this month and get Yellow Mandarin for FREE! Don’t miss it! We’d love to hear your testimonies.

Clementine Essential Oil

You participated in the Product of the Month promotion; you got a free Clementine. Now what the heck do you do with it? Great question! Let’s discuss.

WHAT IS CLEMENTINE?

Clementine is a special citrus oil because it’s a hybrid of mandarin orange and sweet orange. The oil derives from the rind of the fruit, citrus clementina, and is more tolerant of temperature variations than its siblings. Its aroma is similar to that of Wild Orange but with subtle Lemon notes. Like most citrus oils, Clementine has limonene and is renowned for its uplifting properties on the mood.

Clementine is a source of natural folate and may help brain function. This includes reducing feelings of stress and depression. Furthermore, folate content can protect unborn babies against neural tube defects. Also known as folic acid or vitamin B-9, folate helps synthesize DNA and aids in normal growth cells, especially in infants and children. A deficiency of folic acid in infants and toddlers is highly detrimental. However, Clementine can be used to normalize folic acid levels.

Being rich in folic acid, which is also an antioxidant, helps keep skin firm and healthy. Clementine oil contains anti-inflammatory properties that may also be helpful for skin care.

Citric acids like Clementine aids in the battle against acne-causing bacteria to keep skin clear of imperfections.

Lastly, Clementine has anti-mutagenic properties such as vitamin C and powerful bio-active molecules such as limonoids and quercetin. These compounds fight free radicals in our body, stabilize them and prevent them from causing oxidative damage to our cells. By fighting free radicals, these compounds can then eliminate toxins and reduce the burden from our vital organs.

HOW DO I USE IT?

You can add one-to-two drops of Clementine to your water in a stainless steel or glass cup. Also, you can apply Clementine directly depending on your desired use. However, for emotional health, I recommend diffusing three-to-four drops and applying over heart and on bottoms of feet.

CAUTIONS

Like all citrus oils, Clementine is photosensitive. Do not indulge in direct sunlight for twenty-four hours after applying.

Clementine is no longer available for this month. However, for those who participated in this month’s promotions, we’d love to hear you testimonies on Clementine!

Roman Chamomile Essential Oil

Did you know that Ancient Romans used Chamomile to gain courage during times of war? To think that today Chamomile is a popular choice of tea used by millions for its calming effects. Now enter Roman Chamomile—with all the benefits of the tea packed into a little amber bottle! Let’s discuss.

WHAT IS ROMAN CHAMOMILE?

Roman Chamomile stems from the Asteraceae plant family and often grows close to the ground. It reaches only up to a foot, has gray-colored leaves, and a sweet aroma that smells similar to apples. The plant has been nicknamed the “plant’s physician” because it has positive effects on the plants growing nearby. While the most common use of chamomile is in teas, Roman Chamomile can be used in cosmetics to soothe the skin, induce relaxation or sedation, and relieve abdominal discomfort.

However, its most prevalent property is its ability to promote restful sleep. Aromatherapy with Roman Chamomile decreases the plasma adrenocorticotropic hormone levels responsible for provoking stress. In a study performed by the Human Cognitive Neuroscience Unit at the University of Northumbria, they tested the capabilities of Roman chamomile’s aroma to influence mood and cognition in healthy volunteers. Marc C. Moss concluded, “Analysis revealed a significant effect of condition on overall quality of memory, long-term memory and accuracy of attention. Analysis of the pre to post-test changes in mood revealed significant changes in alertness and calmness.”

Furthermore, Roman Chamomile is anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. These properties can promote healthy skin by calming redness and irritation, counteracting sun damage, speeding healing, and treating imperfections. Adding two-to-three drops of Roman Chamomile into your facial cleansers or direct to face is the best way to experience these benefits.

Lastly, and the most unexpected of features, Roman Chamomile can soothe digestive discomfort. Anodyne is an antispasmodic component found in Roman Chamomile and can be used to treat or relieve a multitude of gastrointestinal issues. These issues rang from dispelling gas and soothing the stomach to relaxing intestinal muscles and promoting normal food absorption.

HOW DO I USE IT?

For a good night’s sleep, try diffusing one-to-two drops, applying to the bottoms of your feet, and/or adding a few drops to your pillows. As mentioned before, to experience the benefits Roman Chamomile has to offer for your skin, try adding two-to-three drops into your facial cleansers or apply directly to the face. If you have an upset tummy or other digestive issues, rub Roman Chamomile over the belly, add one-to-two drops to a veggies capsule, or the same amount to your tea.

CAUTIONS

Possible skin sensitivity. Keep out of reach of children. If you are pregnant, nursing, or under doctor’s care, consult your physician before use. Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears, and other sensitive areas.

Save 20% on a 5 mL Roman Chamomile throughout the entire month of October! Don’t miss this special offer! We’d love to hear your testimonies.

Copaiba Essential Oil

Did you know that Copaiba is one of the most anti-inflammatory substances on earth? Derived from the balsamic resin of the Copaifera trees in the Amazon rainforest, this essential oil has been used by the indigenous people of South America for centuries to treat many ailments. Not only is it a natural anti-inflammatory but contains antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-depressant properties. Talk about a versatile oil!

COOL! BUT WHAT CAN I USE IT FOR?

Based on the (twice) mentioned anti-inflammatory aspect of Copaiba, you can assume that it is a proficient advocate for pain. According to a study conducted in 2012 about the Copaiba-Resin oil, Walace Gomes-Leal and his associates discovered that the oil is neuroprotective and reduces neutrophil recruitment and microglia activation after a motor cortex excitotoxic injury; “The results suggest that COR treatment induces neuroprotection by modulating inflammatory response following an acute damage to the central nervous system.” Furthermore, the same study concluded whether used topically or aromatically, Copaiba retains the same neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory benefits.

As an astringent natural compound, Copaiba offers a multitude of benefits for the skin. Another study conducted in 2012 by TR Gomes indicated Copaiba’s effectiveness against acne vulgaris. The author concluded, “The surface affected with acne decreased when treated with placebo, but the linear model could explain only 26.8% of total variance in original data matrix. There was a highly significant decrease in the surface affected with acne in the areas treated with the 1.0% Copaiba Essential Oil preparation.” Copaiba’s chemical components help tighten the skin, reduce the appearance of imperfections, and strengthen the skin to better prevent against scarring.

Another major feature of Copaiba is its natural anti-depressant properties. In aromatherapy, Copaiba has often been used to lighten the spirit and improve mood. Many find the smell to be sweet and reminiscent of warm honey. The scent alone may help reduce feelings of anxiety and stress. However, it is important to mention that if Copaiba is not the scent for you (meaning whether you like the smell or not), the chemical constituents within the Copaiba Essential Oil will have the same emotional effects regardless. Furthermore, as a detoxification agent, Copaiba is known to release stifled emotions. You may feel upset depending on the emotions you’ve suppressed throughout your life. In fact, we like to jokingly say that the first time you use Copaiba, you may breakdown into some well-needed tears.

THAT’S A LOT TO TAKE IN. HOW DO I USE IT?

You can use three-to-four drops of Copaiba in a veggie capsule or simply take a Copaiba soft-gel for pain or discomfort. For skin or emotional therapy, I recommend applying topically. Add several drops to your facial cleaners or essential oil roller-ball blends for optimal use. Apply one-to-three drops over your heart, lower stomach, forehead, crown of head, and/or nape of neck to experience the emotional benefits of Copaiba. You may also diffuse several drops for aromatherapy.

And guess what? DoTERRA is hosting a promotion for Copaiba for the month of October! If you place a 200 PV order, you get a 15 mL Copaiba AND Copaiba soft-gels for FREE! That’s not all. Your free list of items is completed with the NEW 5 mL Yellow Mandarin. Purchase now before it’s too late! We’d love to hear your testimonies.

Thyme Essential Oil

After a productive trip to Utah for the international DōTERRA convention, we’re back again to inform you of the latest healthcare trends and promotions! This week’s blog introduces another herb from the figurative DōTERRA garden known as Thyme. Thyme is often used as seasoning for an assortment of hearty (or not-so-hearty) meals, but its variety of health benefits prove that Thyme is more than a mere decoration for food. Let’s discuss!

WHAT IS THYME?

Thyme essential oil contains antispasmodic, antiseptic, antibacterial properties and more! Thyme’s medicinal features derive from the steam distillation of the fresh flower and leaves. One of the most well-known uses of the Thyme essential oil is its ability to increase circulation. An increased blood flow means increased healing and oxygenation to the extremities. Talk about using Thyme to save some time (pun totally intended)!

Furthermore, Thyme is THE poster child for boosting immune health. Camphene and alpha-pinene, two chemical constituents in Thyme, are antibacterial and antifungal which can strengthen the immune system both inside and outside the body. Thyme is also antioxidant which can reduce free radical damage—another contributor to poor immune health.

The final aspect I would recommend Thyme for is skin care. Topical application of diluted Thyme can soothe wounds and scars, prevent discomfort due to irritation or inflammation, moisturize the skin, and minimize the appearance of imperfections. The combination of antiseptic properties and antioxidants can keep your skin looking healthy and happy!

HOW DO I USE IT?

You can use Thyme directly on areas of discomfort with plenty of carrier oil to dilute its potency. I would also recommend the same application method for circulation. Rub a few drops onto your wrists, ankles, or any areas that may lack circulation and watch the magic happen! However, for an immune boost or other unspecified reason, add two-to-three drops in a veggies capsule and swallow. If you have the stomach, you can also add it to your water.

CAUTIONS

Thyme is a little hot. Therefore, it presents a possible skin sensitivity. Keep out of the reach of children. If you are pregnant, nursing, or under doctor’s care, consult your physician before use. Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears, and other sensitive areas.

Save 10% on Thyme for the month of September! Full of antioxidants and powerful immune support, Thyme can buy you a little more time. Don’t miss it! We’d love to hear your testimonies.
